Scott believes the best planning outcomes come from understanding how decisions are made, not just the policy behind them.
Having worked in local government and private practice, he has seen planning applications from both sides of the desk. That dual view gives him rare insight into how councils think, and a balanced perspective throughout his work.
It is on the hardest cases that this experience counts for most. Policy on its own rarely gives a clean answer. Scott's strength lies in finding the right argument, evidence or design adjustment that turns a challenging constraint into a workable way forward.
As a Chartered Town Planner, Scott advises on a wide range of residential projects, from replacement homes and sensitive renovations to listed buildings and conservation area schemes. His experience spans both urban and rural settings, where careful strategy, clear communication and sound judgement are what separates success from refusal.
At Urbanist Architecture, Scott is known for his close attention to detail and the relationships he builds with clients, architects, and local authorities. He takes the time to understand what actually matters, both to his clients and to the people making the decision, and that attentiveness is often what earns a project a fair hearing.
Outside work, Scott enjoys cycling, figure skating, and exploring Europe by motorcycle. A passionate music collector and vinyl DJ, he brings the same curiosity and enthusiasm to his interests outside planning as he does to helping clients realise ambitious projects.
“ I contacted Urbanist Architecture about the possibility of building an eco house on an agricultural rural greenfield site. Stuart provided comprehensive and very honest advice by return. The conclusion was not what we had hoped for, or in UA’s commercial interest, but nonetheless extremely helpful. If planning conditions change, we would have no hesitation in using them in the future. ”

“ A very professional and supportive TEAM working on your project. They are active. Someone from the planning department commented very positively on the quality of the material he received from them prior to a site visit. Ultimately I got what I wanted which was a successful planning outcome. ”

Daniel A. — London
“ I have worked for many large corporations during my long career, often having to involve experts of one sort or another; some charging as much as £800 an hour, back in the 80's even. I can honestly say that I have NEVER dealt with a company as professional and efficient as Urbanist Architecture. Five stars all the way. ”
Valerie S. — London
“ They navigated our planning app got approved when others said it couldn't be done. Exceeded expectations in every way! ”
Schultz D. — London
Good planning isn't about winning arguments; it's about finding solutions that work for everyone.
