Challenge
Some architectural projects we undertake start after planning permission has been granted by another firm. That was the case with this client, who wanted to convert a large single home into eight flats while retaining its Edwardian style and adding Arts and Crafts elements. Our task was to optimise the space and enhance the home's aesthetics, all while keeping the project as cost-effective as possible.
Approach
We collaborated closely with the client, as well as various engineers and consultants, to ensure the design would both meet expectations and avoid any construction issues. We focused on creating light and airy flats by using a thoughtful layout configuration and strategic window placement, and enhanced the rear garden with a play area. We also redesigned the entrance to maximise parking, which now features six spaces.
Solution
The result is a transformed property that maintains its historical charm while offering eight modern, light-filled flats. This project showcases our ability to take mid-project ownership, improve original plans, and align them with the client's goals, providing valuable new homes and a smart investment.
